I'll be glad to give a brief once-over, but since I give this kind of
advice for a living, please forgive me if I don't get too detailed in
public <g>.
First, the most important consideration is what machine you are working on
— in your case the PC, and the OS/GUI/whatever — again in your case,
DOS/Windows. Next thing to consider is what kind of data — tablular,
text, multimedia/hypermedia, executables, homogeneous/non-homogeneous, etc.
This helps determine what kind of software to use for data organization.
It's really pointless to go any further than that without knowing what kind
of data you have.
