<<When R5 starts shipping, will R4 remain available for purchase for folks unable to switch to NT immediately?>> I think it will still be available, at least for a short time, but I am not sure. I will look into this matter and get back to you. -Brian

<<Brian, my understanding is that r4 will be available indefinitely.>> You are most likely correct, however since I wasn't _absolutely_ sure of that, I didn't want to commit myself to eternity. <bg> -Brian

>> I think it will still be available, at least for a short time, but I am not sure. I will look into this matter and get back to you. << Gads Brian! Please don't tell me that DOS is being abandoned! There are so many of us out here who aren't (and won't be) on NT for a long time, if ever! -dave

<< Please don't tell me that DOS is being abandoned!>> Dave! No! Never! We wouldn't do that. People seem to be misunderstanding my post. Please let me rephrase my statement. Yes, the DOS version will still be available. Does that clear up the confusion? What I was unsure about was if there will be changes in pricing/upgrades/etc… It is too early to have any of that information. -Brian

Brian, << Yes, the DOS version will still be available. >> I still don't understand what DOS version of 3DS you are talking about. Are you saying r4 will be the last DOS version available? Will r5 be available for both DOS and Win NT? If that is true will both the DOS and Win NT versions be included in one license (like AutoCAD r13)? What about DOS network rendering slave licenses? I understand you may not be allowed to answer all of my questions… Mark

<<I still don't understand what DOS version of 3DS you are talking about.>> We are talking about Release 4, and whether it will still be available after R5 is released. It will. <<I understand you may not be allowed to answer all of my questions…>> Actually, I am not allowed to answer any of your questions. Sorry. 🙁 The only thing I am allowed to officially say is that the next release will be an NT release. Further details will not be available until closer to the release date. -Brian
