For a look into the future, download LANDSCPE.JPG. It's a preview of the worlds most powerful landscape creator. Something of particular interest to everyone on this forum is it's seamless integration with 3D Studio. For a demo, visit the Digimation booth at this year's NAB show.

I won't be at NAB, but I do a fair amount of landscape stuff, but most of it is large stuff (many, many square miles of land), and nearly always exceeds the 65k face limit. What can this new thing do for me?

Hi Tim, The 64K face limit of 3D Studio has nothing to do with our program. Besides, I think that that old face limit will be raised or done away with altogether in the new 3D Studio. (That's just a guess by the way) David – Digimation

details, details! Tell me more about the program. I saw the jpg, and was really impressed. how does the program work, how much will it cost?

I'd love to tell you everything about it, but I'm sworn to wait until NAB. Hang on. David – Digimation

>> Who else is going to NAB????? Let's plan on a 3DS gathering! Could you please post information about the date and specifics of NAB? I heard something about Washington, DC. If that's true, perhaps I'll make it an overnighter and check out the exhibition. I'm only about 6-7 hours north. – Dave

Dave: NAB is always in Las Vegas. This year, it will be April 10th through 13th. We are collecting names! Who wants to party? :^) Greg Pyros

Hi Gregorius, I'm going to NAB. I think I'll be there on the 12th. I'm staying at Circus-circus-circus-circus. How about you? Alec Jason

Alec: >> I'm going to NAB. I think I'll be there on the 12th. I'm staying at >> Circus-circus-circus-circus. How about you? Great! I don't know where I'm staying (or how I'm getting there yet!), I better get moving! Looking forward to seeing you again! I'll be spending a few hours a day in the Accom booth showing off the new direct network drivers for their WSD/XL from within 3D Studio. Talk about incredible output! 62 seconds of full D1 quality uncompressed video rendered straight from 3DS! The table stakes are going up again! <g> Greg Pyros

<< I'll be spending a few hours day in the Accom booth showing off the new direct network drivers . . . talk about incredible output (blah, blah, blah)>> Hey Greg, If you're going to use my friendly messages as a vehicle to advertise yet another one of your nifty products, I want my standard 10%! <g> I'll look for you there. Alec Jason

Alec: No one is selling them – Accom is giving the 3D Studio drivers away with their WSD units! They just asked me to go and demonstrate! I am just excited about having this type of high-end power available to 3DS users! Greg Pyros

PMJI: I`m looking for a new harddisk recording system. We need full broadcast quality (Betacam SP or better). Do you have any idea (and price)? Michael

Michael: >> PMJI: I`m looking for a new harddisk recording system. We need full >> broadcast quality (Betacam SP or better). Do you have any idea (and >> price)? We looked into the big names, consulted a friend who has both, and decided to get the Accom WSD/XL with 62 seconds of video. Above BetacamSP in quality, full editing control with our existing editor, transfers frames at approximately 1.8 seconds apiece either to or from our Sun workstation. With all the goodies, it's about $25,000 retail. I remember when they were over $60,000!!! Greg Pyros

Hi Greg! Thank you for the fast response. Do you sell the system? I think it works without compression. Does it work with a Alpha channel? Which kind of connection it used for a PC (SCSI, Ethernet)? Does it support PAL (768*576). Do you have any kind of printed information? Michael
#161674From: Mar 30, 1995 2:02 AM
Michael: >> Thank you for the fast response. Do you sell the system? We don't sell any hardware or software written by others, only our own. >> I think it works without compression. Correct! Incredibly clear playback. Visibly better than BetaSP or LaserDisc. >> Which kind of connection it used for a PC (SCSI, Ethernet)? We have the Accom set up as an ethernet node on our network. There is a SCSI connection also, but this is mainly for Exabyte transfers or direct attachment to an SGI. We net-render directly from 3D Studio to it. >> Does it support PAL (768*576). Yes. Greg Pyros PS – Accom can be reached at (415) 328-3818, in northern California

Greg, (draggin up the old messages again) >decided to get the Accom WSD/XL with 62 seconds of video. Just curious, but why not the new Diskus? I think the added key channel would be something very useful, and it's 10 bit. But, hey, I'd be happy to have either. 😉 I was wondering when you'd go to one of those.. JNJ

JNJ: >>>> I decided to get the Accom WSD/XL with 62 seconds of video. >> Just curious, but why not the new Diskus? I looked at both, and also discussed it with someone who has both, and he said no-question, Accom! Since this agreed with my assessment, I went with it, and I couldn't be happier! And Accom has a free 3DS network rendering driver! <g> Greg Pyros

Greg Splain "Accom- \WSD/XL"!! Sounds exotic! Is it wrist mounted, dash mounted or is it gonna be one of those rack thingies?

Greg, I'll be in Vegas. Arriving Monday morning, back to L.A. Wednesday Night. Autodesk has a press event Tuesday evening, perhaps after that . . . Bruce N. Goren

Bruce: Do you know the times scheduled for the Autodesk press event? Greg Pyros
#160804From: bruce gorenMar 25, 1995 12:00 AM
Greg, 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. But it's a wander in, wander out, laid back thing. I'll probably only spend about an hour there, out by 6:30 . Bruce

Hi Greg, We'll all be at MGM. We'll be at the press party and in the booth and in the casinos – take your pick. David – Digimation

Thanks for the NAB info. The date/location prevents me from being there. Oh well. I'm sure there are still plenty of others from the forum that you'll see there. – Dave
