Gary: I just uploaded an animation you might like to see. Ed K. ————————————————- 1BL20.ZIP Size = 1,121,661 3-23-95 Title: 3DS. By Ed Kellerman KELLERMAN 3DS SCRIPT EXTENSION TSE IXP PARTICLE SYSTEM 1024×768 FLC Particles, moving in all directions, fill the screen with bright colors. Gradually, their motion becomes more directed and the swarm begins to form a curled, twisted, banner twirling in space. While still in gestation, the banner begins to uncoil and untwist. Motion gradually ceases, and the letters "3DS" are revealed. Created with an IXP script. Ed Kellerman

Hey Ed, If you're looking for ideas on particle stuff, I'd love to see a cool looking waterfall. I saw one on the latest Mind's eye tape that used particles, and it looked pretty cool. JNJ

<Hey Ed, If you're looking for ideas on particle stuff, I'd love to see a cool looking waterfall. I saw one on the latest Mind's eye tape that used particles, and it looked pretty cool.> Sounds like a worthwhile effort (and I did promise Jonas more water many weeks ago). Can you give me more details? (Sorry about the delay, as I just explained to Anne Brown, I just spent over a week playing with a baby.) Thanks, Ed

reply to an old post- About the waterfall/particle animation, I'm not sure how it was done, but it looked like they had collision detection with the "rocks" and tried to stay together in a clinging like magnetism. Don't remember for sure, but it was pretty cool. I'll see on my new threads if you've figured something out since 2 1/2 weeks ago. I too have been off for quite a while.. unfortunately mine wasn't as joyful.. 🙂 But well worth my time. JNJ

Ed, the only place I've ever seen 2D particles transformed in 3D like that was on the Xaos demo reel, with Pandemonium effects. Fantastic! In addition to 1BL20.FLC, I really like the flic in which you do a spherical projection of all the pixels exploding/imploding from your head. That's great! Are you working with Martin to make these scripts available to TSE users? – G

Gary, Sorry about the delay. I was away playing grandfather for a few days. (I am ready to play with anything that doesn't need diaper changes!) <Ed, the only place I've ever seen 2D particles transformed in 3D like that was on the Xaos demo reel, with Pandemonium effects. Fantastic!> Thanks Gary! Praise like that keeps me going in my search for an animation that doesn't resemble anything you've seen before <g>. Let me know is any of the recent particle flcs I've uploaded are the type of stuff you can use for SigGraph? Perhaps something like "1BL20F." <Are you working with Martin to make these scripts available to TSE users? I haven't heard from Martin in weeks. <I really like the flic in which you do a spherical projection of all the pixels exploding/imploding from your head. That's great!> The neat thing about the last few animations is that they were done in 2D (using masses that atract or repel pixels in the xy-plane ONLY), The 3D appearance is free. The next one will blow your mind! Remember Lawnmower man? Using AniPro/MPS I've created an animation where my face morphs into 6600 spheres that drift away. Again, 3D effect done with mirrors. I am almost done with an IXP script to do similar animations, and expect to have something to upload tonight or tomorrow. Ed K

I'm still completely entranced by your waterfall animation. If you could put together a dense scene based on that code, it would be a winner. We could discuss this further on email if you'd like! – G

Great… Once you explore how you could put together a dense scene with that technique, we can talk about specifics. Thanks, – G

Ed – Since I get first peek in the libraries when folks upload, I've sure enjoyed seeing your face! in all it's folded, spun and exploded shapes <G> It is fascinating to see what you folks can do with the software. Sometimes at night I'll work in the forum on my monochrome laptop sitting on the couch. If it is a super animation I'll run upstairs to the desktop and download again to see it in color. <G> Anne

My grandchild (nine months old) achieved the impossible, getting me to take a break from computers for over a week! Ed K
