Tim, I must ask, how did you and the kid fix the Doom sound problem? I'm having the same thing (as in NO sound) I really don't play it, but if it's on my computer, IT BETTER WORK! Thanks in advance, Bill

I'm having the same thing (as in NO sound) I really don't play it, but if it's on my computer, IT BETTER WORK!< Sadly, we ended up both doing a workaround–switching to PC Speaker in our sound effects setup screen. The audio's lame, but at least you can hear if someone's coming to waste you… I suspect, frankly, that DOOM II's sound card configuration leaves something to be desired–I reset my sound card to "Pro Audio Spectrum 16" (which is what my sound card is, despite the manual not mentioning that's the proper name for it!), and it STILL freezes up! BTW, I know how you feel–Tammy (my wife) refers to it as one of my "Tim Allen moments", when I grunt and beat my chest a lot in frustration…<g> Best, Tim (NOT Allen)

Thanks Tim (not allen), next time I'm in a Doom mood, I'll try it. I really don't care if I hear them coming though, I just want to hear MY bullets blasting the bad guys away. What fun is a silent machine gun? Bill

What fun is a silent machine gun?< Oh, but you *do* want to know they're coming–or else, they'll waste you and you'll never know it! As for the machinegun and their agonized groans as they die–well, *that* is fun, isn't it? 😉 Tim A male, meat-eating testosterone junkie (unlike my DOOM-buddy Raquel, who is female, vegetarian, but STILL a testosterone junkie <g>)
