#DC1tv comments
3 messages in this thread
Hi Jim,
I'm writing a much longer note about DC1tv probs. think I've almost
got them sovlved thanks to much help from these forums… will send along my
results when done
That said, I have an ATI MACH64 installed in my P90 (Royal) and an
Adaptec2940W… have seen comments on the various forums referring to ATI but I
think they were concerning the "32" card. Key lines in my System.ini file read
in section [MACX]
Bitmap=off
Bitmaps=off
If you don't have these lines that may be the problem
BTW have you excluded CCOO in your config.sys? The exclusion must appear in
both files.
All the best,
Tom

I'm close too. My problem had been my Adaptec controller card. Unlike you, I
have an ISA bus Adaptec 1540CF with ROM at CC00. This conflicts with the
default address for the RAM on the DC1 TV. I moved the Miro DC1 TV RAM to D000
and now I can do captures. I haven't tuned anything for speed yet, and the
captures drop a few frames every 4 minutes or so. Moreover, I had to
reconfigure my Ensoniq soundscape sound card and now I will have to spend time
getting the MIDI to work again. Sigh.

Yep. I added "X=D000-D3FF" to the end of the EMM386.EXE line in Config.sys and
also added "EMMExclude=D000-D3FF" to the [386Enh] section of SYSTEM.INI.

Today I ordered an Adaptec 2940 (for PCI bus) to get both the speed increase
and the simplification of ROM, I/O, IRQs, etc. They didn't have the much
faster wide Adaptec 2940W at Gateway and I don't have wide hard disks, but I
suspect I should have insisted on wide anyway.
I'm one breakthru closer with no help from any vendor. I still swear I will
buy the first PCI bus video capture card that comes along. Without hesitation.

I haven't tried that. What problem did that fix?

This is what Miro's new DC20 at 640×480 at 60 fps will be. PCI. So now I'm
awaiting this rather than jump on the DC1. And ///FAST is coming out with a
competing PCI board.
Looking a little better … of course there are those driver issues that bug
both companies.
