I really liked using an angled flat brush with your Draw/Macro technique.
When using a Polygon (or a SPLINE!) you can "redraw" after selecting a new
ink/brush by clicking on REDO right on the panel – you don't have to go find
REUSE.
The Polygon method doesn't have a time component and doesn't show multiple
passes over the same area (for example with glass). The Draw/Macro method does
show multiple passes (where lines cross for instance).

One small thing. I like to reformat the lesson for printing. So, I have to
take out a lot of hard returns in your text file. I suppose they are there for
some reason, but if not, could you leave them out? (I use search/replace in my
word processor, so it's not a big deal.)

More notes on using Polygon/Splines and reuse/redo.
You can move a polygon and you can't "move" a macro recording (or can you).
You'd use Tween Move Shape, or of course you can use all the Optics Tools!
Well, one work around for moving a shape created with the macro recording
system is to make it a clipping.

I have no control over this. I send my lessons in to the NTP03 staff, and
they completely reformat them to be consistent with their utilities and
such. You might want to run the idea past Aguilar, and see what the reason
is for it, but this far into the program, it's hard to know if they'll
change the format.
