Rich, I'm not sure if the graphics commands are the same for the LQ-1500 as the LQ-800 but I believe that they are. The driver I uploaded sends an ESC L to the printer whenever it prints graphics. On the LQ-800 an ESC L selects double-density 8-pin graphics. At this time I do not know how to triple the graphic data supplied by packages such as Deluxe Paint to take advantage of 24-pin grap but I am working on it. Also, the driver I uploaded still has a problem with vertical spacing that I am trying to correct (circles print out as ovals) — however, it is a big improvement over using the Epson driver in Preferences. Another improvement the driver has can be seen when using Textcraft. If you use the Epson driver in Preferences with Textcraft and the LQ-800, only 55 lines of text will print out on an 8.5 x 11 inch page (even if you select 66 lines). With the driver I uploaded, 66 lines will print out — however, you must first upgrade your Textcraft disk to a 1.1 Workbench by making a copy of Workbench 1.1, deleting unnecessary programs such as Demos, Clock, Icon Editor, Calculator, Notepad, etc., and then copying the Textcraft program to this disk. Try downloading the LQ-800 driver that I uploaded, copying it to the devs/printers directory on your Workbench disk, Deluxe Paint disk, etc., selecting Custom for printer in the Preferences menu, replacing "generic" with "Epson LQ-800", and then choose Save from the first page of Preferences. Make sure that you use a BACKUP COPY of the disk that you want to put the driver on so that the original doesn't get corrupted. — Fred 75365,1460 —
