#S3 video?

Jake or Brad – who is making S3 boards? Got any brand names and models?
Dave
Dave….
HP, STB and Orchid have S3 boards that I know of. The ATI board is made
with ATI's chip and is a competitor of the S3 chipset.
I am in the middle of testing 3rd party S3 ADI drivers right now. I've
lined up Panacea, Vibrant and AutoBoost, does anyone else make one?
When I finish the review I will upload it to CSERV.
Robert
Thanks, Robert — I'll look for the review.
Dave
Robert,
I assume you are testing shipping software, not just beta software? We've
been shipping S3 support since October of last year, BTW.

Dave,
At last count, there were about 43 companies who has announced S3 based
boards. Some of the biggies include the Diamond, Orchid, Cardinal, STB,
Genoa, Actix, HP, Matrox, Mylex, and NEC.
I'm not sure of the names except Diamond's Stealth, Orchid's Fahrenheit
1280, and Actix's Quantum. And I only know those because I just looked at
the boxes <g>.

Thanks, Brad. I'm evaluating a VRAM II at the moment… maybe I should hold
off 'til I can see somebody's S3.
Dave
I would recommend holding off, if the S3 boards are in your price range.
