I didn't know Compuserve killed messages after line 39, anyway to continue …… You did not mention the screen I/O. Do you think it has a significant impact on speed? I noticed that Norton Utilities Disk Test from version 3.0 to 4.0 ran much faster after they went from displaying every cluster number to every 100 or so. The speed improvements might also have come from other improvements, however. Thanks, Leif

Leif – No, I doubt that the screen I/O ("processing vector nnn") has much bearing on the speed of a PLOT or PRPLOT, but we'll kick that around. (It's funny — I remember a user group newsletter suggesting that the difference between an 8-bit CPU and a 16-bit CPU could be seen by the fact that AutoCAD processed 16 vectors at a time during a plot. I wonder how they'd explain the "processing hidden line" messages, which report every 25 lines.) .
