You are correct that there are two files with the same name. They are
identical except that one with the earlier date has line feed characters at
the end of each line so that the IBM PC folks can read it online. I will
delete the earlier one.
I have run into the same problem with Navigator but I did not identify it
with the multiple same name files. I just thought that Navigator and/or my
system bombed out. Have you left a message for Michael O'Conner (Navigator's
author/ programmer)?

Yes. He points out that this will only occur if one types in the filename
oneself, omitting the CIS number. When Navigator retrieves something in
response to a Get It request it prepends the number. Following his advice I
tried prepending the number in brackets [] to the filename, and then
Navigator did download it fine. Seems sort of un Mac like, but it does work.
By the way, in an earlier thread you mentioned F-XTRA.TXT or something like
that in DL6, and said that if it wasn't there you would upload it. Did you?
I've looked for it and haven't found it. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Are you saying that Navigator prepends the DL# with the file name and then it
can locate it? That actually makes sense because I looked for the duplicates
and they were in different DLs. There is one that is called .TXT and another
.DOC.
In regards to the F-Xtra.TXT, I know that I have uploaded it, but I could not
locate it in the Adobe.dir nor in DL6 where I would have expected it. I have
had the experience of files seeming to disappear before. There have been
problems when they were merged with the forum. If anything happened to the
CompuServe computers they will restore everything from the last backup which
may not include your recently merged files. The thing that bothers me is that
no message is left to say host going down, may experience loss of data or
something to that effect. At any rate it, I will upload it so that it can be
available.
