#Apple Laserwrtr on VAX
2 messages in this thread
I need some help in getting a print queue for an Apple Laserwriter to work
properly on a MicroVax. I've set up a standard terminal print queue and can
get one form to print fine , but then the ready light on the laser writer
continues to blink after the form is done and the printer won't accept
another form. We have software (PASSPORT by FORTEX) which creates the
Postscript file to send to the laserwriter. I've tried sending a file with a
Ctrl/D in it, but that still doesn't set the printer back to ready. Could it
be some kind of error condition. I don't have a Mac. Is there someway I can
get the Error-Handler loaded? I have the 3-volume Postscript handbooks put
out by A-W. The only way I can print another form now is to On/Off the
printer.
Hi Bob.
Does the ready light keep blinking forever until it's turned off?
Even of the PostScript job has an error somewhere, the printer should timeout
after 30 seconds.
Unless the VAX is still sending info. We've connected LN03Rs and
Varityper VT-600s and have queues running them successfully (but we have the
printers connected to terminal servers).
BTW, if you're the same Bob Henry I know, we have DL's blessing on a
users group, and they've sent me an up-to-date customer list. I'm arranging
to have that info keyed into a database, and plan to send out letters to see
who might be interested in participating. Will be in touch soon.
