CONVERT R9 to v2.62
4 messages in this thread
Does anyone have a program to convert Rel 9 drawings to be usable under
v2.62 AutoCAD? Unfortunately not all offices within our company have
upgraded to Release 9 (due to the lack of video drivers for Release 9), and
thus is creating a problem in sharing drawing files. Any ideas would be
appreciated.
I don't know of an existing program to do this, but it wouldn't be too hard
to do. Basically, you want to remove any Spline curves from the R9 drawings,
create a DXF file, and then remove lines 381-396 from this DXF file. Then you
can DXFIN with Version 2.62.
Also, you may be interested in the two-part article starting in the
February CADENCE by Bill and Denise Kramer about conversion between versions.

Dale: We used a R9 to version 2.6 conversion program as an example in the
book Customizing AutoCAD. The optional 2-disk set includes it in a slow
AutoLISP version, but for $2 (cheap!) owners of the book can get the Bonus
Disk which includes a compiled C version that is much faster. (There was also
one advertised somewhere for $49 or something!) Rusty – New Riders

Thanks for the information Rusty. If we find that there are a lot of
drawings that require the conversion, we will buy the bonus disk and book.
For the time being, DXFOUT and then DXFIN seem to be working fine.
