Mike, I haven't actually looked closely at a 2000HD, so I don't know whether you can mount a drive, hardcard-style, on the 2090a, or even whether the 40Meg drive it comes with is a 3" or 5". These things may or may not be an issue to you. Also, are you sure 40 megs is all you need? For some people it's plenty. For other people it's not enough. Don't just think about the next six months; think about your longer range needs. If the 2000HD does look like it will meet your needs, you may also find that it's less expensive than buying a separate controller and drive. I have the GVP/80Q and am very pleased with it. It's not quite two months old, and in another month will probably have over 30 megs on it. For me, a 40 meg was too small. Installation of the GVP took about 10 minutes, including the autoboot EPROMs which I did myself. Software installation was a couple of mouse clicks, and come back to the computer after 20 minutes. Totally automagic. The GVP uses a Quantum drive. Very quiet and very reliable. Also VERY fast, although it would be faster still with the HardFrame, which seems to be about the fastest controller around. (It's also DMA which the GVP is not.) I've seen at least one place advertise the HardFrame/Quantum as a hardcard combo, but that's up to the dealer; Microbotics doesn't sell it that way. Installation of the HardFrame is also supposed to be a snap–although it would be more work if you mounted the drive yourself. I don't think you could go wrong with any of these. The main issue is probably price vs. capacity. John
