HELP! I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE! There has got t be a more quiet fan than the one thats in my 2000 now. Does anyone know where I can get a better (MUCH MORE QUIET) one, how much will it cost? Also does anyone know what the CFM rating on the stock fan is.

A turbofan from a 747 is probably more quiet. It probably would be a bitch to install, tho. :*) Ben Blish – [ N4EJI ]

The best cure for a headache is to slam your toe with a hammer. I got the Zenith flat screen monitor and its internal fan drowns out the 2000 fan quite nicely. — Art

Most of the problem with the fan in the 2000 is that it is directly connected to the housing for the power supply. Most of the noise comes from the power supply vibrating. It's a royal pain (and voids the warrantee, but replacing the fan would also) but you could remove the fan (it's riveted in on my 2000), drill out the holes for rubber grommets and bolt it back in. The grommets will isolate the case from much of the fan vibration. Don't overtighten the bolts or you'll defeat the purpose of the grommets. Peter_S (LeCroy)
