Hi All! I just installed an XT BB on my 3000 and can't get it to boot from the external 3.5" drive. What's wrong with it? Also, it worked without the cpu command.. is that bad or id that the problem thanks for your help… -Tim Stonis

Tim: I don't think…hang on while I check my manual…nope…I was afraid of that. the external drive appears as dribe B;, and you can't boot from that one. You'll need to somehow install the 5 1/2 inch drive externally, or rig up a 3 1/2 inch drive internally, connected the Bridgeoard internal rive connector. Good Luck sj

Thanks for all your help…I don't have my 5.25" drive with me (at college) so I'll have to wait. Thanks again. -Tim

Tim, I loaded my harddrive in my 3000 with the cover off and the 5 1/4 dirve hooked up. Now I use the harddrive to boot and Cross-DOS and AT copy to add files. You could do the same thing as a temporary measure and with the XT you may be able to use an Amiga external drive or with the top off any standard IBM drive to startup. Remember that you have to turn off the drive in CMOS on the bridgecard before you reboot. Bruce H. -Via Whap!
