I got your message about the PAL chips and the ROM update for the 2620. I've just been a tad busy with the 15'th approaching! I have the newest BBoard in existence, I insisted on it and I called Commodore to get the PAL numbers. It is indeed the new ones. I have one of the earliest 2620's but that never caused trouble in the past. I can't see how it would be messing up in the new machine but I suppose it could. Now "WHAT ROM UPGRADE", is it really too much to notify people who spend $1700 for a piece of hardware that there was a new ROM available? This is what I hate most about Commodore, they don't seem to keep a database and they certainly don't tell people about bug fixes and updates. Explain again to the tech folks there that I have the newest PAL's in the 2286 and the old ROM's in the 2620. If they think that the ROM's could be the problem then send me the ROMs. I have a degree in Electrical Engineering so I think I can manage to install them. I certainly don't think I should be paying very much for this kind of upgrade. Everything I've bought for the 2000 seems to have ROM or PAL problems. Maybe it's just a loose chip, I've not gotten into that yet. If the techs have any other ideas about what might be going on then let me know. I'll check out the chips as soon as possible. It is weird though, just running along fine when the machine just froze up on me. That's not quite the normal routine. I also find it not giving GURU's at all, just locking up and then going into reboot. Let me know what the next step is. Remember that my dealer here isn't a service center, the most he could do is order the ROMs and he has NO tech notes at all!
