#Help! Memory & AT BB

The Intel board will work with the 286 BB when they are the only cards sitting in the AT Bus. It will not work when most other available PC/AT cards are also in the bus. Take Thomas' advice and exchange the Intel board for something that allows both the page frame address and the mappable registers to be changed. BTW you might want to get Quarterdecks's system analyser Manifest. It gives invaluable information on what's using the memory adresses between 640K-1M and is very useful when you are trying to optimze board configurations. It certainly proved invaluable when I set up AST's Rampage Plus 286. You might also want to get QRAM (from the same company). It allows you to "reclaim" conventional memory you've lost to DOS, drivers, ram disk pointers etc. I am using DOS 4.01, a ram disk, a disk cache etc and still have 660K of memory available for applications. It really is MeSsy DOS isn't it.

Messy is an understatement, I can't belive this OS has been in use so long. It's completely archaic and so ded. I thank you for the help as I've been running into problems with large applications. I first tried running under DOS 4.01 but I didn't have any expanded memory and was losing too much for my applications to run cleanly. That was my reason for trying the Above Board. It is going to UPS on Thursday for a refund, the mail order co. said they'd take it back. They also said it is known to NOT work with the Orchid Pro Designer VGA Plus which is exactly what I have in my system so I couldn't win either way. It did work when it was the only thing in the slots like you said. I'll have to look into the Quarterdeck products you mentioned, I've asked the store employees here about them but they have had little to say about them. I'll look into the AST card next week and see what I can find, it would have to have a serial port available and I'd sure like a card that could go higher than 2 Meg of memory. I'll call AST and see what they have. Thanks for the help.
