Hi,
I am a registered user of Animator and Anim Pro (and should be getting
Shade 2 soon). Where I work (Architectural, Civil, Engineering firm) we
use ACAD 10/11 and Shade 1.1. But on to the point…
The Phar Lap DosX with AniPro 1.0 does not support the XMS standard (ie
Dos 5 HIMEM.SYS) as far as I can tell. The updated DosX with ACAD 11 (in
addition to the patch supplied in the ACAD forum) do. Will you (Autodesk)
be coming out with a new/updated DosX for Ani Pro? I would like to run
AniPro and DOS without seperate boot-ups to remove HIMEM.SYS (used for my
Windows 3.1 and RAMDRIVE etc.). I realize that QEMM etc. are one way to
alleviate the problem, but I do not like using these types of fixes (I am
not fond of QEMM386). Also, where can I find a good write-up on Shade 2,
I would like to know how easy it is to use Shade 2 files with Pro, in
addition to system requirements (RAM etc.). I get CADalyst, and haven't
seen any good reviews in there. Please leave a message here or contact me

The PharLap DOS Extender used in Animator Pro is ALREADY v.2.6, and
does not need a NEWDX fix. Even so, I still recommend QEMM, regardless of
your own aversion to it.

I have been running Ani Pro with HIMEM.SYS from DOS 5.0 since DOS
5.0 was released without any problems. The HIMEM.SYS from Window 3.1 also
works if not better but the old HIMEM.SYS from Windows 3.0 will not work at
all. I suggest you double check the version of HIMEM.SYS.
Are you running with EMM386 loaded or not? Should not make any
difference as Phar Lap can use either.
