I have purchased a NEC CDR-83M drive which I want to use with a Future Domain SCSI controller. The drive came without software so I need to locate a driver to use with MSCDEX. NEC couldn't help me; all they told me wast that they would be putting out a multimedia upgade kit soon. Does anybody know where I can obtain a device driver forthe CD rom? Thanks

Allen, I've the same problem than you, I try a generic CDRom driver found in this forum (in hardware section I think) called CDROMG.ZIP. With my system it hangs, I have an ADAPTEC SCSI controler and a disk divided in 2 logical C; and D:, so you can test it. I let a message to the author and he answers me he is working on a new version that he must upload may 1st. Awaiting that, if I find another solution I'll let you know. Pierre.

Pierre: I may have solved my problem. I finally got thru to COREL's tech support line and they told me that they have the necessary drivers. All I need to do is to get an upgrade to my CORELDRIVER software that I already have for my WORM drive. Since all but their Tech support was closed today, I will have to wait until Monday to order. Corel has gone on record as promising to make anything work together. If they make good on their promise, SCSI may finally live up to it's promises; here's hoping! BTW, I tried GCDROM.SYS but it would not work with my host adapter, it said "NO CDROM FOUND" and then re-booted. ALlen Kempe

Allen, What are you doing here? I didn't know you finally got a CD, from what I've heard the NEC 83M is THE one to get! Cheers, Paul
