HAME color cycling

Hi Ben. I wonder if you can help me with a little problem. I am trying to
use my HamE to make a video for work (I am a Technical Instructor at the
Customer Training Center for Pratt & Whitney, a major manufacturer of jet
engines). I have some nice 24 bit, 3-D animations that I cooked up in Real
3D. I want to show fluid flow into various valves and actuators with color
cycling. I figured I would load the anim frames into a HamE Paint program
and paint in the cycling fluid flow. Well I am having only moderate
success. I have HamE Paint, HamE Workshop and SpectraColor HamE. My
questions are: – Am I correct in my assumption that I must play back the
anim in the program that created the cycling. It appears none of the
cycling formats will play in a program such as DPaint or Pageflipper(PFX).
– Will the HamE Paint program display in overscan? Your cycling and glow
ranges in that program are the best of the three, but no o'scan. – What can
I do about the fact that the palettes generated by IP and the Paint program
scatter the colors about, making cycling of existing colors difficult (at
best)? – With all the new animation features available (and coming) in IP,
should I concentrate on creating most of the work in IP and go to a paint
program only to turn on color cycling?
HamE Workshop doesn't do O'scan or cycling very well. Spectacolor is pretty
good but only has -ONE- cycle range. Thanks for any assistance. P.S. When
(and where) you gonna be at WOA in NYC?

Hmmm. Caouldn't tell you much about Spectracolor or Gfx Wkshp… so much
for that.
Our paint does not display in overscan – scrolling only. I *think* the
viewer will do color cycling, though I am not certain. Try it and see.
I'll be at the developer meeting on saturday for European contacts and so
on. I'll probably take one turn around the show floor before leaving on
Saturday, depending on timing.

I appreciate the quick response. Viewer doesn't seem to turn on color
cycle. I'll use SpectracolorE. Thanks for continuing to update IP on a
regular basis. I hope I can get a chance to meet you in NYC. Wear
something distinguishing (like a karate outfit ;^).

Highly misplaced, but important to me- Where is the WOCA going to be
held? So far-
Me: "Hey, where and when is WOA being held?" A: "East Coast." Me: "Where
on the East Coast? When?" A: "New York, June." Me: "Where in New York?
What date?" A: "June 24th thru 27th." Me; "ARRRGH!!! _WHERE_ IN NEW YORK
ON JUNE 24TH?!" A: "Gee, not sure. Why? They're not slated to show
anything
really new, anyhow."
I've missed every AmiExpo ever held and rarely get out to see _anything_
new. I swore I'd see at least one major show before I died, and pledged to
attend the next one scheduled to be held within a day's driving distance.
Am I fated to miss this, or is everyone hiding something from me?

The show is simetime in June, somewhere in NY… but since you live on Long
Island, and you would have to drive in to the city, it's more than a 'day's
drive away' anyhow… <g> so what do you care?

Nah, two and half hours driving, in the car; about an hour and a half on
the bike. That's providing the mass migration of the thundering herd of
commuters doesn't stop to ogle the latest car wreck on the LIE. I'd like
to see just how far those reportedly rubber necks can stretch by applying
considerable tensile stress with a rope.
Of course, I _could_ take the train, it being ecologogically correct to
utilize mass transit, but that would get me there just in time to catch the
outbound return train, and the rolling pissoirs the LIRR uses for
transporting stock upsets my delicate sensibilites, anywho. I just can't
stand all the suits folding the Times to the next page in synchronous
paper-crackling cadence.
And, of course, I _could_ start walking now… PROVIDED SOMEONE WOULD
TElL ME WHERE THE THING IS!!! <broken sobbing sounds>

The next Amiga show is the World of Commodore show this coming weekend.
Pier something (next to the aircraft carrier) in Manhatten. Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday.
If you still need exact info on the location, email me and I'll get it to
you. If you can email me a FAX number, that'd be great, I could just fax
you their ad.

gotten the spot entered into the INS, with launch date scheduled for the

WOA is on/at:
The New York City Passenger Ship Terminal, Pier 88 (between 48th and 52nd
streets, on the Hudson River).
The show runs from Friday, April 24th through Sunday, April 26th, 1992.
The floor is open from 10am to 5pm on each of those days.

I guess from 10am to 5pm people go for unintentional swims in the Hudson
(and swimming in old cars is no picnic).
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I know the spot pretty well, though I
haven't visited the neighborhood (Westside give you a nice rooftop view of
the place, and the not-too-distant fish market engenders ineradicable
memories during warm summer afternoons when the breeze is right) for about
two years. Gee, I wonder if that parking spot is still open? Or if I'm
going to have to entrust my car to the amateur hill-racers in the 48th
Street parking garage?

Are you exhibiting at that show?
No, we are not. I'm going to the show for a meeting CBM is holding about
Euro business… that's all. I may not even go to the show floor, although
I probably will just for kicks.
We like AmiExpo and the people there – generally if we're going to exhibit,
that's where we are likely to go.

I hope your hopes aren't too high. Getting business advice from CBM? Is
that like studying sound fiscal management with your local Congresscritter?
The other thing I love about Euro distributors is tha they come out of the
walls at the New York show, and they all insist they want an exclusive for
their country, and you've never heard of them before, and then they tell
you they think they can sell five or ten copies in their country before the
pirates take over. 🙂
Not going for advice from CBM. In fact, I plan to ignore most anything they
say. But I do want to talk to some of the overseas people there. Not all
Euro distributors are like that. I know for a fact.
