Attention Amiga-heads! I've got the official go-ahead from the AmigaWorld editors to work on a successor to my popular article on CD-ROMs that appeared in the March 1991 issue. This next one is scheduled for the August 1992 cover date. From the correspondence it generated, it's apparent that I wasn't basic enough for some people, and not detailed enough for others. For example, this article will include more step-by-step directions about what you need to do to add a CD-ROM drive to your Amiga. Also, I'll be more specific about sources for interesting CD-ROMs. A few developments will make this more interesting. CBM has shown their CD-ROM drive, but isn't shipping it yet. In the mail today, I just got info about a new CD-ROM driver that allows access to Mac HFS discs! That's right, something we can do that the PC can't touch. 🙂 So, let's start a thread about the state of Amiga CD-ROM. tell me which discs you're using, where you got them from, and what you did and didn't like about the CD-ROM coverage you've seen so far, so we can fix it this time 'round.

John, Nimbus has mastered many CD's for the Amiga/CDTV platforms. Everything from Fred Fish to CDTV Xenon and lots in between. If I can be of any assistance as far as mastering Amiga/CDTV Cd's and information on how to send the data to a mastering facility give me a claa (800-782-0778).

John, Great!!….we're currently not hooked up to a CD with any of our Amigas, tho we have 2 DAK drives hooked up to PCs here in the office. We do have 5 Amigas on the network tho, and I'd love to get a CD-ROM on one of them.
