Keith – is there a demo of Quicksurf ADS anywhere on this or the ACAD forum?
I think everything else is in ACAD (386, Advanced, Standard) but I don't see
an ADS anywhere…

No, the ADS version of QuickSurf has not been uploaded. It is
available for downloading from our BBS at 303-759-3598. We have been real
disapointed in the response for the ADS version as most AutoCAD users seem
to be staying with version 10. The ADS version is roughly 10 times faster
than the Advanced version, allows multiple surfaces, and now contains break
lines for modelling man made surfaces.

Keith – that's really too bad. The ADS applications I've looked at are
absolute dynamite compared to non-ADS ones; for example, Walt Craig's WCEdit
and CAD Systems' Slick ADS drawing viewer…
I'll come over to your BBS and have a look at the ADS version. I assume it's
convertible, like the rest?

Yes, it is a convertable demo. Later this week a 3D Surf converable
demo will be placed on the BBS as well.
The ADS version has been heavily overhauled to make use of the
faster ADS interface as compaired to the advanced version. All of the
surface generation features have been tested and flow very smoothly for 3D
Studio model generation. By using break lines, boundaries and setting a UCS
you can even surface a wall leaving openings for windows, even if the
windows are round. The break lines can be lines, circles, arcs, polyines
and so on.

I had a several people ask me if 3dsurf was going to have a "drape" type
feature – they believe Quicksurf does this. Let me elaborate: if you had a
landscape or terrain mesh in 3ds then you wanted to "drape" another mesh,
such as a road, on the terrain to follow the contours. Will 3d surf allow
that? If not, I'd like to add it to a wishlist, please!

Yes, QuickSurf does drape objects on a surface. The ADS version
drapes faster than most users could perform a move command. The secert to
draping is having the surface already in memory. I intend to include a
drape feature in 3D Surf, although I have added it yet. From the
structuring of IPAS the draping will not be as straight forward as in the
AutoCAD ADS environment. As of today, 3D Surf will import ASCII data or
generate terrain data then either connect the points, calculate a grid or
calculate a smoothed grid. Options include controling grid size, scaling of
ASCII data and chaos of a generated surface. Included as well is lisp code
to extract entities from AutoCAD (version 2.6+) and create an ASCII data
file. The whole process works very well and is fairly fast. The pricing for
3D Surf will be less than 1/6th of the cost of the ADS version. If you have
