I have finally obtained drivers for SBPRO under windows 3.1, but am having trouble trying to figure out how to install them. I go into CONTROL PANEL, select DRIVERS, select ADD, select UPDATED DRIVERS, select A:\, and it comes up with the 3 new drivers that I wish to install. They are: CREATIVE LABS SOUNDBLASTER PRO Auxiliary Audio CREATIVE LABS SOUNDBLASTER PRO MIDI Synthesizer CREATIVE LABS SOUNDBLASTER PRO Wave & MIDI I select any one of them, and the computer tells me that "Old driver is still being used" and gives me a choice of restarting or not. If I choose not it gives up. If I choose RESTART it reboots Windows & of course the drivers are loaded back in again – back to square 1. Can someone tell me how to boot Windows without these drivers starting up. Please don't tell me that I have to go back & Install Windows 3.0 or Windows 1.0 with Multimedia Extentions again – I have done that 5 times already juggling various things around before I got these upgrades. I have lost track of what gets installed where & when! Hopefully someone can suggest a quick fix like commenting out a couple of lines in the SYSTEM.INI or WIN.INI files temporarily. TIA

I think you must REMOVE old drivers using DRIVERS in control panel before loading new drivers.

From Control Panel, Select Remove Driver For All the installed existing SB drivers, and then select add to install the new. There appears to be some problems with Win/MM .WAV & .MID files with 3.1, and MS admit that some aspects of the MIDI system changed between these versions. Try the WestPoint Creative BBS, UK distributors for SB's for the most up to date drivers. Have Fun!
