HP 500C help
2 messages in this thread
I need help with a problem with HP 500C printer. I can't get color
printing. This problem was not present the last time (2 months ago) I
used the color printing feature. System is 2000, GVP 50 MHZ
compo,Quantum 210 HD,18 meg, IV24. The only changes have been
installation of Janus 2 and the lastest GVP IV24 rom. This is what
happens. When I try to print color the HP asks for a cartridge change
with the color cartridge in. I have tried everything in the manuel;
brushing the contacts, cleaning the cartridge, reseating the
cartridge, plus trying two brand new color cartridges. The HP on
startup accepts the color cartridge and the color self test is
correct. If I change the cartridge after the print is started the HP
will not accept the change; ie it will not return to home position.
If I replace the color cartridge with the B&W cartridge the picture
will print in B&W. I have used the driver that comes with 2.0 and
Super_DJC. I have checked the connections of all cables. Since the
color self test is correct and the color cartridge is accepted
without imput from the Amiga I figure that something coming from the
Amiga is being interpreted as a need to change the cartridge. I am
baffled. Please help. Thanks.

This may not be of any use to you, but no one else has responded to you
yet, so here goes…
You stated that you're using the driver that comes under WB2.0 – C= didn't
offer a HP500C driver until 2.1, so could you be using the HP500 driver?
I've read of other, 3rd party drivers out there that are supposed to be
pretty good. I'll hunt down the messages (it's 'kept' around here
somewhere).
Hope this helps – let me know how you make out.
