#2.1 formatting

Is anyone having trouble formatting floppies under 2.1? It seems that whether I
use workbench or shell or any other program that formats, with or without FFS
the disk usually has a bunch of errors and is not recognized as a dos disk. I
have used two different drives for formatting and several different brands of
disks. Is this a common problem or am I doing something wrong?
I have two 2000s running 2.1, one with turbo board, and have never
seen any problem with the format. And I usually format on both
drives at once, too.
I've had intermittant trouble formatting 720K MS-DOS disks via CrossDOS
under 2.1, but nothing that doesn't also happen to me from time to time on
a real PC. Amiga disks format OK for me. I've been making both OFS and FFS
diskettes.
Workbench seems to recognize them alright but I have trouble with Directory
Opus and especially the Commodore 2.1 HD backup program. It won't use a single
disk I feed it.

I'm having zero problems formatting disks on my '030 equipped A2000 with
WB 2.1. Also formatting on both disks simultaneously.
