With my 2091 card and SEAGATE st177n drive I have to activate the file named
ReselectOn on my AMIGADOS 2.0 disk to get the system to recognize the drive.
Once I have done that I can warm boot off the hard drive just fine. But if I
turn the machine off I have to go thru ReselectOn again. Anybody know why?

Seagate drives are known for their slow 'spin up' cycle. It's
possible that the drive isn't ready the first time you boot. Have you
tried just warm booting again after the system comes up- without
using the reselect? If that works, there is a jumper on the 2091
that you can set which will make the controller wait longer for the
drive to spin up. I don't have the docs here at home, so I can't tell
you which one it is…

The A2091 jumper to make the controller wait for slow (Seagate) hard
drives didn't work for me, so I installed the SCSIMount public domain
utility and do a remount command on the Seagate after everything else is
done. I can also reboot, of course; the SCSIMount method is a bit more
elegant. Putting extra WAIT and MOUNTALL lines in the user-startup file
may help for some of these drives, I'd bet.
Good advice… but if the Segate is the only drive, it's not going to work
unless he boots from a floppy. On my own system – using an old Trumpcard-
I have a quantum as the boot unit and an old Seagate. I set up a script
with the Mount command and some assigns, and attached it to an icon. If it
doesn't show up at boot time, it's just a click away.
Yup, that does it all right. The reboot that is. Duh! If you find a reference
to which jumper I would appreciate hearing from you but I guess I can live with
rebooting. Thanks.

Glad to help. I'm calling from home and the 2091 manual is at the store,
so I can't look up that jumper. JP1-5 seems to come to mind, but I
wouldn't swear to it.
