Hi all! Boy! was I glad to find this area! We have a new A3000 with 4megs fast, 2megs chip and Amiga OS 2.05. I was having some compatibility problems between the Pascal compiler I got for the Amiga (PCQ Pascal) and the Borland Turbo Pascal used in the labs at school, so I bought a used 2088 Bridgeboard with Janus 2.0. I avoided the PCInstall program and copied all the files over "by hand," as many had advised me to, and everything (including TP) runs OK. _BUT_… (you knew there was going to be a BUT, didn't you…) as you may know, there's no place to put a 5.25" drive in a 3000, so once I got the system software and TP installed, I disconnected the 5.25" so I could get the case closed. Now here's my problem: I can't seem to get my Amiga external 3.5" drive (M.A.S.T. Unidrive Budget) to work as the B: drive when plugged into the back of the BB. I put the "DRIVPARM=" line in the CONFIG.SYS first, of course; still nada. My best guess is that the B: drive won't work without the A: drive connected (I forgot to try this before closing everything up). So, I figured maybe I can substitute a 3.5" drive for the A: drive — _that_ I could mount next to df0: inside the 3000. So, my questions are these:1. Is this ineed possible;2. What kind of drive would I need;3. What are the advantages of Janus 2.1? This is not absolutely necessary, as it boots from the virtual C: drive with no problems; and with MSH, I can read/write MS-DOS disks. It's just that AREAD and AWRITE are just so blasted S – L – O – W !!! So, whaddya say? Oh, yeah, P.S. I found this really cheap card in a sale bin: can anyone tell me what a Seagate Technology ST-05X Host Adapter card is? Is it, as the clerk guessed it might be, an IDE card for the XT (in which case I could use it)? It does have 2 40-pin headers. Thanks in advance, everyone!
