#repeating characters

I have an A2000, with a GVP 030 25 combo accelerator, a GVP impact memory card
with 2meg installed and a flicker fixer. The motherboard is rev 4.1 I have
recently developed an intermittent problem where a left apostrophe " ' "
repeats constantly whenever a text screen is open (such as a CLI, The computer
accepts no input from the keyboard when this is happening. I suspect a problem
with the keyboard, but I've tried unplugging it and it happens while it is
unplugged. Any ideas about what is wrong? Thanks for any suggestions.

What happens if you hit that key "`" a few times?

When its on the fritz, nothing. It keeps displaying that character repeatedly.
By experimentation, though, it seems that moving the keyboard or cable can stop
it, but I can't find an exact position that always works. A friend said they
had a similar problem with many characters when he spilled coffee on the
keyboard.
It cleared up when he dried it with a hair dryer. I haven't spilled andything
but it does seem like a problem with that key. Thanks for your suggestion.

It is a defect on the motherboard. I forgot what it is, but seem to remember it
to be quite trivial (cut a resistor or something like that). Commodore
described the problem and fix in one of their (older) Tech Topics, so if you
contact a service center they should be able to tell you within minutes what to
do. While you're at it, you might want to ask what the charge would be to
upgrade your 4.1 motherboard to, what was the latest, 4.5?

The last 2000 motherboard rev is probably 6.x (6.2 maybe).

You can't upgrade a rev 4.x board to 6.x. There are however detailed
instructions to upgrade a 4.1 board to the latest rev for that type. Unless
Commodore swaps motherboards ofcourse, but I doubt that since 4.1 is, what, at
least 4 years old?

At least… I think that my 4.3 was purchased in '87.
