I have QB V5.04 and a HD with 10 partitions. I am contemplating getting a Syquest, and would like to know if QB can save multiple HD partitions to one Syquest cartridge, and, can QB handle backup splits across multiple Syquest cartridges? Jim, Yes to both though we handle it differently. If want to back up several partitions on a single cartridge you would format the cartridge as an amigados volume. Each backup would be saved as an amigados file on that volume. If you have a partition that is larger than one cartridge you would use the tape/removables option to select your syquest drive and then feed the drive cartridges until the process is complete. Both of these methods can have encryption, and compression applied to them if desired. Randy Brooks Central Coast Software A division of New Horizons Software, Inc.

Randy, Good – thanks for the info about QB and Syquest cartridge usage. I assume that if I started out with one cartridge and went through my list of HD partitions, none of which would be greater than a Syquest cartridge by themself, that QB would simply pump out the partition backups to the one cartridge, and then prompt me for another "unit" when it filled up, just like using diskettes, right? Jim, No, multiple partitions would have to be contained on a single amigados volume. Multiple cartridge support is limited to QB format syquest cartridges. Randy Brooks Central Coast Software A division of New Horizons Software, Inc.
