Hi. I just wanted to let folks here know that the latest issue of Desktop Video
World does have a preview of the next generation of Lightwave. Its been on the
stands for a couple of weeks, so you might have already come across it… but
just in case I wanted to mention it. Lou Wallace
Video Toaster User has also done a preview and it looks hot!! How long are you
going to keep us waiting, Newtek?

No rumor. The article was a 'hands on' preview that covered several revisions
of the late beta LightWave 3.0 software. It is in the issue that is currently
on teh newstands, which is the April/May issue of Desktop Video World. Lou
Lou: FYI, I subscribed after buying the premiere issue. That must have
been 5-6 weeks ago. Issue two has come and gone from the local newstand,
but I've seen nothing in the mail as yet.
Call 800 441 4403 and ask for Debbie Walsh. She can help track the problem

Also note that there is a preview of new LW in the Feb/Mar Video Toaster
User. Unfortunately the shots of the interface came out dark, but that's
OK, because they're changing anyways…

BTW John that A/B/C roll Editor Gadget I mentioned for $167 for the
Panasonic AG-5700's. It is made by a Company Called Blackrock and they
even have an Ad in the Back of the current issue of VTU.
Things are changing alot faster than we can keep up with. Makes me think
perhaps the best way for all these new versions and upgrades is through
software and minor hardware additions rather than engineering obsolecense
into boards and circuits. At this rate I can see how folks are seriously
going to get soaked.
Following along the lines of the ECS is a good example to follow.
In some cases things absolutely do need replacing but not in all
circumstances as is becoming the state with almost everything.
Eventually it will be learned and picked up on that if you buy something
it's only going to be good for a couple months – a couple years at most.

Unfortunately that is the peril/adventure of technology. THere will
always be something better 'just around the corner', but you have to jump
in sometime. I'm glad I did, and I can't wait to see what lies ahead…

Consider me wet. I jumped in years ago -Atari
VCS/ColecoVision/Intellivision/Atari 800/Apple ][c/Apple
][gs/Nintendo/Amiga 2000/Toaster.
I've been lucky so far knowing when to bail out so I haven't gotten to
water-laden/soaked yet. Gives me anxiety attacks wondering if this isn't
the time to get out from the 2000 with Commodore going to the AGA systems
now. That'll pretty much obsolete the 2000.
If it weren't for NewTek's Toaster I'd probably have sold it by now.
If I'm not mistaken – the Toaster won't fit in the 4000.
