If anyone has seen the April/May issue of Video Toaster User, or the latest
issue of AV/Video Magazine, you'd have seen NewTek's ad for their participation
at NAB. This is (if you don't know), the single largest Broadcast Technology
show in the world.
The ad shows a large dark planet, with a star with lens flare peeking around
the planet's edge. It carries the caption "BEYOND REVOLUTION".
I'd say (regardless of other rumors) that the ad pretty much confirms the new
LightWave will be released at NAB.

Yea, Newtek will have a Toaster Pavillion at NAB along with other
Devolopers with them. Something BIG will be announced/released at NAB
thats fer sure.
Not just LW3.0, from what I've gathered! Toaster 3.0 software!
Besides LW3, which is amazing (and growing daily), everything's being
upgraded, and from what I've gathered, it's going to be astounding.
CG has been significantly enhanced (PS font support, mouse control).
I also hear that we'll be able to play LW anims from the Switcher, using
the mouse as a jog-shuttle, and key them over video. WOW!
I've heard both that TPaint has and hasn't been majorly revamped (So I'll
wait a week before thinking about OpalPaint).
Know nothing about ChromaFX, but except for music video, who uses that
(except sci-fi type stuff w/ rotoscoped travelling mattes, but who's got
the patience)?
P.S. Lee, what does the Modeler Haiku macro do, anyway?
Haiku is a form of Japanese Poetry that is 14 lines if I rememebr
correctly. BTW I'm NOT Lee Stranahan hehehehehehehe.
The Modeler Haiku macro generates haiku poetry using a file with
predefined words. This was something fun for beta-testers and most likely
will not be released with the shipping version.

BTW: Your Lightwave tapes are great. When can we start to expect LW3
tapes (yours or Lees or anyone's)? Not until after this fall?

Having seem bits of LW3, I'm already envisioning projects that have been
just too tough for now but will be quick & easy enough with LW3, & I'm
sure I'll soon get lost.
Pardon the intrusion but are you related to a gent named Telef that works
for the NYCTA? I don't think yer Last names are that common so I figgered
I'd ask.
No relation as far as I know. It's not a common name, but there are a few
out there. It's a Norwegian name.
BTW: I'm Mark Goldberg (don't ask if I'm related to Whoopi), Lin
Tollefsen's partner & computer person.

Thanks Trent. I can't decide to let the AW sub run out and get VTUser or
get both. Probably get VTUser if their ads don't overrun the mag and get
stale through the months. Was pretty interesting reading an older copy
Oct/Nov 92 I believe, an article by Lee Stranahan claiming that the 3d
crowd didn't really want any newcomers into the field, and while that may
be true, I haven't found that here except for one message that tried to
make me feel a little inferior perhaps. But I think that's more on the
line of a discriminating viewpoint when it's the individual animators or
wannabe's that are of that attitude. I can certainly understand that at
the beginning of the article he wrote, 'If your an avid Lightwave 3d user,
you might want to skip this column. It could make you mad.'
I've mainly found some of the most helpful advice in this forum and
through AutoPilot not to mention NewTek's Vendor Forum – which has been a
boon for my LightWave habbit. Special Thanks and salutations to both
Peter Greci and Eric Flom for the wealth of information they share.

Always Glad to help. as to getting VTU and/or AW get em Both if you can
afford it, as well as AV/Video and Computer Graphics World. For now I
can't really recommend Amiga Video Grafix(formerly AVid). I hope Amiga
Video Grafix quality improves back to it's Presale Days. AVid was a
Excellent Genereal Amiga/Video mag, the 2 issues of AVG that I've gotten
haven't been up to snuff IMHO. Tho the Second issue is 100% better than
their first issue so I am hopeful. There's still too many Typo's tho for
my tastes and it's getting to be a little TOO genereal.
Also don't forget Desktop Video World.
Well Rodney, all I can say is VTU is getting to be a real weightly publication.
The current issue is just jammed with slick stuff.
