#AMAX and disk problems

I am running a GVP 68030 at 30 MHz with a mix of 16 and 32-bit memory. I am
using (or trying to use) the AMAXII+ board in an A2000HD – using standard 800K
Commodore disk drives. I am now running ver. 2.56 of the AMAX software –
version 7.1 of the MAC OpSystem. I can read the stand- ard density (800K) Mac
disks just fine – I just can't format anything except the RAM disk and
Harddisk. I've tried low (400K) and regular (800K) density – the program comes
up with "Initialization Failed) – no other information. No icon is created.
Disk First Aid says the disk is "Not a Macintosh Disk". Apple File Exchange
tries to format for Mac and seems to think it's done it, but no icon – no
usable disk.
ReadySoft claims the big advantage to AMAXII+ is the ability to use existing
Amiga drives. As I said, I can READ Mac disks – I just can't format or
initialize any floppies. So what's the advantage? I have spoken several times
to Raymond of REadySoft and he has not offered any particular solution. I am
not at all pleased nor impressed with any of this experience – nor the vendor
involved – at this point.
I have read many messages here – concerning the unsatisfactory per- formance of
AMAX and disk operations – and wonder if we're all just talking to ourselves.
Is there anyone from ReadySoft that ever reads this board? Is anyone trying to
solve this problem?

I've had only one instance where I couldn't read a MAC disk with my
internal HiD floppy using AMAXII+. I seem to be able to format/write disks
just fine.
In your AMAX preferences, do you have the correct stting for the type of
floppy you are using selected (HiD or 800K)?

Yes… you can be sure that ReadySoft is working on it.
O.K., I'll bite- I am using a II+ (2.56) in a turbo 2000, with similar
specs and the same varied memory (although AMAX is set for "32 bit only"),
with one high density Amiga floppy and one normal 880K. Under 6.07, both
format, read, and write just fine. So it CAN work. Have you tried
transferring the AMAX to another Amiga?
