Well, I suppose you could look at mode promotion as deinterlacing. But I
figure we may as well get the terminology right. 😉 What mode promotion
really does is substitute a non-interlaced mode for an interlaced one. No
actual deinterlacing takes place.

True, I agree exactly.
But when talking to someone that doesn't know what the AGA chips can do,
it's easier telling them terms that they already know.
