#CACHE PROGRAM FOR CD ROM
4 messages in this thread
Rich,
I agree with the consensus of the others on this thread. This is not a good
program, both in its function and in the tricks it pulls with the expiration
date and random keypress required.

I was interested in Cacheall because it cached the CD to a hard disk, but I
couldn' get Windows to load in enhance mode with it. Then I got Norton's speed
disk and it caches everything in memory. If you are reading big census files,
it fills up, runs over and thus does you no good. So anybody know about a
program which will cache big files to a hard disk and run under Windows enhance
and operate in the months that follow May?
David,
Good question. You might want to post this to "All," else others might not
read it.

David, CD-Speedway does that (cache to hard disk). I've tried it out and,
while there are some problems for my particular application (I have to switch
among several different CDs, each of which has huge indexes to be cached), I
gather it works well in many situations.
