Hallo dear helpers I am using a CD-ROM drive MITSUMI CRMC–LU005S. No problems with audio and normal data. But it just would not read KODAK photos from demo disk with softsare on the same disk. It seems as if the drive had problems reading, and after some time it reports a system error. However photo nr 1 can be read, although terribly slowly. My system is a 468/33 with 8MB. CONFIG.SYS LASTDRIVE=Z BREAK=ON SHELL=COMMAND.COM /E:1024 /P DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE 1024 RAM I=B000-B7FF I=E000-EFFF DOS=HIGH, UMB COUNTRY=41,,C:\DOS\COUNTRY.SYS BUFFERS=10 FILES=40 DEVICEHIGH=C:\DRIVERS\EANSI.SYS STACKS=9,256 DEVICEHIGH=C:\DRIVERS\RAMDRIVE.SYS 1024 /E DEVICEHIGH=C:\STACKER\SCREATE.SYS E: DEVICEHIGH=C:\STACKER\STACKER.COM /EMS @ @ D:\STACVOL.DSK /P=1 DEVICEHIGH=C:\STACKER\SSWAP.COM D:\STACVOL.DSK DEVICEHIGH=C:\DRIVERS\MTMCDE.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:300 /A:0 /M:20 /T:5 /I:10 /X AUTOEXEC.BAT @ECHO OFF PROMPT $P$G PATH=C:\DOS;C:\DRIVERS;C:\BATCH;C:\NORTON;C:\TOOLS;C:\PCTOOLS;C:\STACKER LOADHIGH C:\DRIVERS\SMARTDRV.EXE SET TEMP=C:\TMP SET TMP=C:\TMP SET TZ=EST-2EDT SET SUPERFAX=D:\SUPERFAX\,D:\SUPERFAX\ VERIFY ON REM LOADHIGH C:\DRIVERS\MOUSE.COM LOADHIGH C:\DRIVERS\DFIMCOM.COM LOADHIGH C:\DRIVERS\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /M:10 /E /L:R LOADHIGH C:\DOS\KEYB SG C:\TOOLS\SCRNSAVE.COM -10>NUL LOADHIGH C:\DOS\DOSKEY.COM C:\DRIVERS\PF.COM REM THE CHECK LINE BELOW PROVIDES ADDITIONAL SAFETY FOR STACKER DRIVES. Alex — Try removing the devicehigh statement before MTMCDE.SYS. I have had some video problems with MTMCDE loaded high, and this MAY be the source of your problems. Do you have any other problems with video? Craig

Hi Draig Thank you very much for the hint. As soon as I get my (first) Kodak-CD back I shall try it out. I'll feedback to you. Otherwise I have no problems with video, but I am not doint advanced things. Regards … Alex

Alex, Is the Lu005S the newer, faster Mitsumi. I don't have a suggestions for you (sorry), but I'm interested to know if the Older, slower drive works with photo CD. My box just says CRMC. It is the 800-1000 ms access time drive (according to the spec manual) Thanks Eric

Hi Eric My CD-drive must be the older, slower one. It specifies Seek time 12 cm disk: 1/3 stroke 350ms, full stroke 650ms According to specs it is XA and multisession and supports Mode 1 and 2. Transfer rate Mode 1 150KB/sec, mode 2 175KB/sec sustained So it really should read Photo-CD's. Regards … Alex
