Hi all, unfortunately I am not using (yet) 3 D Studio. But I would be glad if someone could answer me the following question. I do have a *.3ds file and wanted to have it in the *.dxf format to able to convert it into my raytracer I use so far. Is there some tool. or what is the difference, can someone do this for me? Thanks in advance for your help, Georg Henrich

Georg, I am not aware of anything other than Autodesk Multimedia Programs (3DS, AutoVision, etc.) that will read and convert .3DS to .DXF. Maybe if there is a converter, some one will let us know. -Brian

Perhaps you can convert with InterChange Plus – John Foust of Syndesis Corporation is frequently on this forum and can let you know. Nik

George, If you know someone near by that has 3D Studio, they can translate it over to DXF for you. Mind you, DXF is not the king of file formats. See if your local Autodesk dealer can do it for you… Casey Johnson Viewpoint DataLabs
