#Pivot Point?
5 messages in this thread
Is there a way to make an array of objects with the pivot point somewhere
besides the default point without having to manually move the pivot point in
each object to the new location?
Would appreciate any insight you might shed.

3DS uses the object internal centerpoint (0,0,0) as default value for the
pivot point when making new objects. The position of the centerpoint is
possible to alter. Ex. If one makes a cube it get's the pivot point in the
center. Move the cube with Modify/Element/Move or Select the faces and use
Modify/Face/Move on the selected faces, to a new location leaving the internal
centerpoint behaind in it's original place. In this backward way you can get
the internal centerpoint whereever you want. By moving the faces or elements
arround it.
If you move the pivot-point it doesn't move the internal centerpoint. Soo if
you wan't it automatically copied you have to set it soo it becomes default.
Or wait for someone to write an KXP-IPAS for it <g>!!

PS
Bewhare that this can alter the look's of your object if it uses any SXP-
material that is dependent on the objects internal 3D-position like DENT_I.SXP

Thanks for the remedy. I wanted to make an array of say three or 4 hundred
objects with the altered pivot point and no way wanted to move each one
independantly.
Thanks for the great tip!

jerry:
make one object and correct the pivot point on it.
then instance the object as mane times as you like in the k.f.

I'll keep that in mind for instance objects. I could save alot of time if you
had dozens of idential objects with pivot points that needed moving.
Thanks.
