I've finally had the time (what a pain) to get the dms utility to work and tried the ImageFX demo. After all this the demo loads, runs, but doesn't do anything (can't draw or load.) whats the deal hear. I wanted to see if this product was worthwhile for me to buy to support my Firecracker24, particularly the draw and paint functions. Paul Fish

Paul, You'll have a lot better luck asking about Image F/X in the GVP section… I don't think that Black Belt Systems cares too much whether or not you get their competitors demo up & running. <g>

Well, gee, Paul. Lets see… Since we don't *make* ImageFX (we make Imagemaster R/t, a far more powerful and complete product), I guess I don't have much of an answer for you. What you want to do is call GVP and ask them, or find GVP support somewhere online. We can't help you here. (((((((((( –Ben …via AutoPilot

Hi, DeskStation will begin shipping the Raptor, a high-speed rendering engine for Newtek's Lightwave 3D. Our system is a multiprocessor MIPS R4400-based product with lots or RAM and lots of speed. In addition to the render-only box we're considering a renderer/workstation using Windows NT as the host OS. We're very interested in moving applications like those from Black Belt Systems to our platform so that we can offer the serious animators a complete, high-speed rendering engine and workstation. If you're interested we would be happy to loan you guys a development system for the port. We can be reached via phone at 1-800-793-3375 or compuserve at 72620,1654. drp

BTW, if Ben doens't want the Raptor rendering engine to port ImageMaster, I'll take it then <g>. // John – (Who enjoys harrasing the vendors) \X/ Mercury@ins.infonet.net

Only if you're going to port something. Something useful that is.

"Only if you're going to port something. Something useful that is." I was just giving Ben a bad time. Never take me too seriously <g>. Sounds like the Raptor is quite a product, and I hope you do well with it. // John – (Who enjoys harrasing the vendors) \X/ Mercury@ins.infonet.net

This could lead to ImageMaster RT/RT. The second RT being Realtime :^) That would KICK BUTT !!! ….John

John – > This could lead to ImageMaster RT/RT. How 'bout "R2/T2" <g>? Or would a product like that have to come from "GVP-3-O" <bg>? . . . . JimDoc, on AutoPilot

My error, I'm using (shudder) an IBM PC right now to talk on compuswerve and I probably hit the wrong button. While we are on the subject of demos, is there a demo of imagemaster R/T available. I understand that the painting mode for the Firecracker is not "real-time" and I wonder how that will work for me. Paul Fish

Actually, the FC24 painting capability's not real far off of real time, depending on what you're doing and what type of CPU you have running… There is no demo – with a MSRP of $99 and a street price of $70 or so, there's very little point in it. IM R/t is the single most powerful image manipulation tool available on the Amiga, and it's the least expensive as well. If you've got questions, ask away – I'll answer you as straightforwardly as I can right here. –Ben …via AutoPilot
