#NT startup delay — declared parent_msg_num=(none), resolved parent_id points to #(none)
I have a minor NT startup problem to which I would like an answer.
startup sequence is . . .
1. "OS Loader" screen appears – normal 2. "Microsoft (R) Windows NT (TM) – – –
-" appears then
long pause – 15-20 secs.
screen flashes then 3. "Microsoft (R) Windows NT (TM) – – – -" appears
again 4. disk check info display – normal 5. startup continues normally with
no further problems – so far !!!
After logging on, the event viewer shows 2 identical entries . . .
AH154x event 9
"device \Device\ScsiPort0, did not respond in timeout period"
My system is: 486DX/33
24 meg RAM
AH1542B ISA scsi controller
all hard disks are scsi
Panasonic 562B CD reader
NT installed on an extended partition logical drive on disk 0
Any suggestions are welcome. Whilst not a serious problem it does extend the
boot time considerably and any error events are of concern.

The driver for your CDROM is checking all possible
devices on its bus and timing out on the ones not
present. As far as I know there is no way to prevent
this behavior, but you might try calling the vendor.
I ended up getting a SCSI CDROM
and putting it on the main SCSI controller.
