#Slow start up at home — declared parent_msg_num=(none), resolved parent_id points to #(none)
At home, running on a Vectra 486/25, NT always wants to read the CD, even
if Metallica happens to be on it. This takes quite a while. At work, running
on a Vectra 66U I do not see this problem. NT boots right up. Furthermore, it
does not seem to address the CD for any significant length of time. Any ideas
as to how to get the home system to quit listening to my disks?

Larry,
Do you when booting and before the Ctrl+Alt+Del screen, or after logging on?
If after logging on take a look at the path and make sure you don't have the
CD letter included.

I have same problem, while booting only. CD Drive is Panasonic 563,
seemingly correctly installed AFTER NT install from floppies (per
setup.txt and readme's in drvlib\storage\mkecr5xx\x86). Time to
boot: BEFORE CD-ROM installed: less than 10 secs (5 secs fastest
as I recall).
AFTER: over 1 minute.
Times above for BLUE char mode screen only to disappear, DO NOT
INCLUDE logo time prior to c-a-d box. I've done several
installs since 1st one last September and all seems in good shape;
I'm at SP-2. DOS boot is very fast, immed access to CD. Machine
is Dell 466vXPS, 16Meg with aprx 12ms IDE drive. Thanks — Matt

slow reads of cd-roms can be a PITA. make certain that no cd is in the cd-rom.
This can be a termination issue etc.

What kind of setup (controller and CD drive) do you have at home and at work?
