Does anyone know how to get a printer-driver for Amiga 500 and a HP DeskJet 500/550 C? I'm only a PC-User and so I don't know how to handle a Amiga 500 my son got on Xmas his Amiga – and now he will use my HP Deskjet 500. Printer-Driver I got with the DeskJet are only for PC. Thanks for help.

I think you will find a driver for the HP 500/500 C in our libraries. Look in AmigaUser, Library 10, Printer Drivers. If your son is using OS2.1 or later, or if he has the program called CrossDOS, then you can just download it to a 720K MSDOS disk and he can read it in his Amiga drive. If he doesn't have either of those, you might have to send it over via null modem cable – but it can be done, one way or the other. —Betty

Kurt, according to your CIS Id you're from Europe. In this case you can get Amiga drivers from HP's Fulfillment House. The package is called Studio-Light and it's actually a cut-down version of the commercial Studio package. (oh, to save time: the document number in Germany for the order form is 31501) Here's the info from HP: Studio-Light is available through the HP Fulfillment House. Orderforms can be obtained through HP FIRST (Fax Information Retrieval Support Technology) or through your local dealer. For HP FIRST call from the U.K. : 0800 96 02 71 Netherlands : 06 0222420 Belgium : 078 111906 Germany : 0130 810061 Switzerland : 155 1527 for service in German Austria : 0660 8128 Drom outside the U.K., : (31) 20 681 5792 for service in English from your touch-tone telephone or fax machine to receive support information by fax on all currently marketed HP DeskJet and LaserJet printers. HP is at your service offering: – Application Notes (How to use a product with specific software) – Compatibility Information (These documents list compatible software or hardware) – Driver Request Form (These forms show you where to go for driver information, ie. Studio-Light). Note: Additional information is added to HP FIRST on an on-going basis. — Wolf Faust, Am Dorfgarten 10, 60435 Frankfurt, Germany —

Kurt, There should be a driver available off the printer preferences selection on the system diskettes. Dr. Gerald Hull also sells the Super_DJC driver through his company at the following address: Creative Focus Box 580 Chenango Bridge, New York 13745-0580 I am currently using Dr. Hull's driver on the Amiga and Korenthal Associates, Inc. products on my 386 bridgeboard (BB). Korenthal is in Section 3 of PCVENB forum and at the following address: Korenthal Associates, Inc. 511 Avenue of the Americas #400 New York, New York 10011 212-242-1790 Hope this helps! Kurt, An HP DeskJet printer driver is included with the Amiga's Workbench (there is to my knowledge no special DeskJet 500 driver). There are commercial driver packages available, for example the "Studio" package from a German programmer which is (at least in Germany) also available in a cut-down "light" version from Hewlett Packard directly. // Chris coming in from Germany \X/ on AutoPilot 1.061……….
