We need some help with "Printer setup privileges" We are trying to setup printers on (non-i86) NT servers and make them available to clients using NT. The users have standard user privileges.When you try to "Connect" to the network printers, then user receives a message about "wrong print driver". This is correct and is due to the host machine running a non-i386 print driver. So, we need to install the print driver locally on the i86 NT client. Now for the problem … If you are running as administrator (local or domain) you can simply install the correct print driver locally and you're all set for the future. However, if you're running as as "user" you receive a message about "access denied" when you try to install the printer since you don't have and privileges to do any system configuration. (The print server files are public, but as a "user" you don't have the right to install/configure the drivers on the local machine.) We don't want to pre-configure the printers for each user since many printers are available on the net and users often want to access new printers as they become available. So, now for the question …What privilege do we need to give to the end-user to allow them to install/configure printers on the local machine ? We do not want to make all local users "administrators" for safety and security reasons. Is there some way to let them install printers locally without making the end user an "administrator" ?
