#My Wishlist…
10 messages in this thread
I don't know if this is on the wishlist. I was hoping it would be in REL 3,
but wasn't.
I would like to have UNDO work like in Autocad. Undo to the beginning of the
session. If this is not possible, maybe 5 to 10 undo's. If this is not
possible, at least 1 undo in each module.
Please?
Thanks,
Dennis
Dennis,

3ds has the hold button.

That is NOT an UNDO unless you remember to click on it. It's really a quick
save button. For large files, this would really slow you down if you clicked
on the QUICK SAVE button every time you were about to do anything.
I am requesting a REAL UNDO. Am I the only one that would like a real undo?
If so, I'll be surprised.
Thanks,
Dennis

No you are not the only one! You are absolutely correct about Hold. I have
lost lots of work with 3ds. I save often, and press hold often, but people
make mistakes and it is silly to think your gonna press hold so often that
youll never get caught.
There are only a few apps I know of that have an Undo feature as nice as
AutoCAD (mostly text editors), but it is such a great one that I really wish
3ds would have it as well.

Mark;
Good to hear from you. Unless there are others that respond, it looks like it
is just you and me. I asked Gary Yost at Siggraph last year if release 3 would
have an undo. He said no, but that he was wanting undo also. If Gary wants
undo, and doesn't get it, it must have a very low priority.
Dennis
I'm pretty sure that a general undo was on several wishlists, but as to
priority, who knows? It would be nice.

Adding "Undo" to a program that didn't have it to start with is often
problematic. It's really something that has to be designed from the start.
John,

It may be problematic, but AutoCAD did not implement its generalized UNDO/REDO
facility until version 2.5 (the 7th release). So maybe there is hope afterall.
Mark
Dennis,
I'm delighted to hear that Gary would like it also. Now I'm optimistic it
might show up!
