#Buying older version ?

I Have someone who is willing to sell me an older version of 3ds with all the
manuals , As I am not a serious 3d person I would only be playing with it and I
cannot see spending $4,000 for a current version to just play , just the same
I thought I would ask about the legality of it? Is it legal and if it is what
rights would I have? technical support, Etc. Lance M.
Where are you located? In the US, 3DS costs $2,995 or something like that (@
$3K). If the software was legally obtained, and includes the docs, hardware
lock, and you get a transfer of ownership (through an Adesk Multimedia dealer),
then it's 100% "legal". If you're in Europe, I know some countries' dealers
charge obscene amounts of money to register a used copy of 3DS (Sweden =
$1500), so it's not even worth it.
Anyhow, once you're a registered owner of any version of 3ds, you can upgrade
to the latest version. In the US it's $495 for upgrade to R3.
As far as technical support, there is no technical support other than this
forum, and your authorized Adesk Multimedia dealer.

As long as they have original disks, manuals and licence agreement, your copy
will be totaly legal and upgradable. You will need to transfer the licence into
your name. Call your Multimedia dealer or Custumer Service at 707-794-1450 to
find out about transferrring your licence.

As has been mentioned, you need media, manuals and hardware lock. I'd be happy
to verify the 3DS serial number as valid and help with the transfer of license
if you wish. Via mail, not forum, please.
