I work in the Visual Productions group here at Autodesk, our charter is to
create drawings and renderings for use in brochures and ads. I do most of the
AutoCAD drawings and renderings that go into the brochures. However we are
always looking for stuff from customers. I'm a sailor and used to design and
build radio controlled model sailboats in AutoCAD and render them in 3d Studio.
So I have a tremendous interest in seeing your models. A while back I uploaded
2 renderings of sailboats here on the forum. One is a trimaran sailing under
the golden gate bridge, the other is a monohull. It is called BOATS.ZIP and it
is in the 3d studio library.
Anyway, I would like to see what you have done with 3d Studio and AutoCAD. We
would possibly like to use the stuff for an ad. Let me know if you are
interested and I'll tell you what you need to do to submit the stuff..

Yeah I,m very interested but it would be premature to submit my work
(professionally) at this juncture for a few reasons; I've been using Multi-surf
and Renderize-Live up til now but my main interest is to learn how to do this
in 3d-studio. Perhaps you could look at and add to some of my current projects
and show me how to make the transition.
I recently found out that if I saved a DXF in Autocad that had been created in
multi-Surf that I could no longer bring it back into multi-surf, consequently I
have some clients waiting for me to learn how to use 3d-studio so I can put in
the details. Would you be interested in helping me out of this jam and if so
where would I upload my current project? -MIKE-

going on vacation tomorrow for a week and won't be back till the 18th. I'm

HEY, another rag boater alright. Yeah the only thing I have to upload from
3d-studio right now is problems not becouse of the program though
but becouse of my inexperience. My background has been 20 years as a Journeyman
Shipwright and now Model Shipwright and six months using a
computer with Multi-Surf and Renderize-Live but I'm now in transition
to using 3d-studio. Unfortunatly (maybe not) I'm going to have to learn
3d-studio faster than previously planned. I found out the hard way that if I
import a DXF into 3d-studio from multi-surf then save as
a dxf the file will no long be importable to multi-surf. I have some
clients waiting for me to learn how to put in the finishing touches to their
boats (no pressure really) but I HAVE to learn how using 3d-studio. My next
project I plan to use 3d-studio from the keel up.
Question; could you look at the 3ds. of a lapworth 55 and give any advice as
how to procede with the details and if so where should I upload it? Any help
would certainly be appreciated. Thanks -MIKE-
