ANYONE, I have recently downloaded AmiTCP-2.2 from the Networking library and am having a few problems getting it to run from the installation. It installed OK onto the partition I selected and I was surprised to see it could not be started via an icon. It seems only able to be started via the shell. with the command:- run "AmiTCP:bin/startnet" I checked the documentation again and found that I had to alter the configuration file. Problem is I have found two configuration files … a) AmiTCP-2.2/bin/ifconfig b) AmiTCP-2.2/db/AmiTCP.config I assume that it is the latter that I configurate … The question is how do I alter the configuration? I tried double-clicking on the icon but was only asked to "Enter Command Arguments:" The command AmiTCP.config was already in place so I OK'd that and got back … "AmiTCP.config: file is not executable "AmiTCP.config failed returncode 10" This is where I am stuck and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. IAIN. CALLING IN FROM SCOTLAND ON A 68030 AMIGA1200! iain@altspor.demon.co.uk

Iain, AmiTCP is a cli based product and it's configuration reflects this. Startnet is normally appended to s:user-startup and starts the networking software on reboot. AmiTCP:bin/ifconfig is used to set up the slip interface and is actually called in startnet so you don't need to worry about that one. Finally, AmiTCP.config is automatically built during installation. Briefly, to get connected you need to configure your modem not to drop carrier on DTR toggle, (AT&D) on the USRobotics range, then – run startnet dial into Demon using eg TERM when you are connected quit TERM type 'online slip.device 0' or whatever interface/unit you have chosen.
