Hello; Here is some info on the TWAIN standard that I sent to Larry Phillips yesterday. This might help clear some your questions on this subject. To answer your question about the TWAIN standard for Flatbed scanners, I will quote some info from the Feb. 8, 94. issuse of PC Magazine. "Another major development on desktop scanning has been the widespread acceptance of the Twain applications interfce standard. (According to the Twain committee, Twain is not an acronym; it represents the union of applications and input devices.) Twain is a software interface that eliminates the need for every scanner manufacturer to write its own drivers. Rather, by automatically installing as a subprogram, Twain permits a user to scan directly into an application….." Also; "TWAIN Drivers, which provide a standard interface between peripherals and applications, have attained near-universal acceptance in the scanner arena.
