#Motion Blur IPAS?

I'm looking for a better way to produce a linear motion blur in 3DS. Both the Object and Scene motion blurring methods in Rel 3 produce transparent copies which don't look right unless the sampling is a high number, like 10 to 15, and with our current render times, there's no way we'll be able to make it acceptable. Is anyone working on an motion blur IPAS? It might be easy to take the VBLUR IPAS that ships with 3DS and add a user-defined angle of blur, keyframes, ease-from and ease-to sliders, etc. Is this possible? Eric at Mondo

Mondo, << VBLUR IPAS that ships with 3DS and add a user-defined angle of blur, keyframes, ease-from and ease-to sliders, etc. Is this possible?>> This could be a IXP but the problem arises when the camera angle changes along with the object's direction. Maybe an AXP that produces an animated stand in behind the object as it moves. Maybe an additional instance of the object that you deform(stretch) and modify the opacity and drag behind the original object. However, this wouldn't be a programmatic solution… There seems to be a number of approaches and maybe one of the emerging IPAS3 developers will pick up on this need. good luck. jonas[adesk]
