#MM Upgrade Kits Which 1?
5 messages in this thread
I am looking at purchasing a MM upgrade kit. What all is out there? What
is the best choice? I am looking at an add from Brown Wagh. It includes a
sound blaster board – CD player – and software. Has anyone tried this
combo? I am looking for solutions. Help!!!!!!
Thank You
The two best-selling MM kits right now are the SB kit that you saw
advertised and the Media Vision kit.
The SB Pro has a proprietary CD interface, meaning that you are locked into
one manufacturer's drive. The MV kit has a standard SCSI interface. That
means that if you want to add something like the Pioneer 6-CD changer to
the MV, you can, but to the SB Pro, you cannot. On the other hand, the
drive that comes with the SB Pro is faster than the Sony that comes with
the MV, although the Sony is fast enough to meet MPC specs.
The SB Pro also has a reputation for being very noisy, in addition to only
doing stereo digitizing at have the rate of the MV card. The MV card has
special shielding that makes it a lot cleaner when digitizing.
I don't recall the price of the SB kit off hand, because we haven't sold
any of them yet(!). We sell the MV kit for $720. If interested, you can
email me for more info.
Nelson, how about the Pro Audio Spectrum? It sells pretty good/
The Pro Audio Spectrum is part of the Media Vision MM Upgrade kit.
HAVE IT UP AND RUNNING — GREAT PACKAGE!
